Graphics management

Infomaker Grafix Planner simplifies the management of recurring, pre-produced graphical elements such as comics, crosswords, sudokus, stock market pages, tv-channel pages, etc. Grafix Planner ensures that comics are published once, not twice. Import and deletion of published graphics happen quickly and easily, which saves a lot of time.

Infomaker Grafix Planner can be viewed as a calendar for graphical material. You import the graphics to the calendar, and the calendar keeps track of which days the graphics should be used. By immediately connecting the graphics to a publishing date, the process of finding the right graphics for the right page and of deleting the graphics after publication is greatly simplified. In this way, the risk of publishing the same graphics two days in a row is minimised. The main aim of IGP is to significantly simplify a recurring and circumstantial process. IGP makes your life easier!

IMPORTING GRAPHICS

Graphics that are to be used in IGP are imported through drag-and-drop. Thus, two months of comics can be imported through one simple process. You do not need to think about how to name the comics or on which days the comics should be published. IGP takes care of this for you.

ASSEMBLING GRAPHICS

Page design is even simpler. You choose the command Update Document in the IGP menu that you can access from your layout software. Then IGP makes sure that the right graphics are assembled in the right place on the page. If graphics are missing, you will be informed of this.

OVERVIEW

IGP allows you to schematically monitor all graphical material one week ahead. This makes it easier for everyone in the organisation to discover if some kind of material is missing.

PREVIEW

You can decide what kinds of graphics you want to see in preview mode. You may need to make sure that a certain comic is in chronological order, or you may want to check what graphical material will be found on a certain type of page on a particular day.

DELETION OF GRAPHICS

The Deletion Window in IGP allows you to delete graphics with ease: Simply inform the system which types of graphics are to be deleted and how old they must be. One or several types of graphics can be deleted.

Archive

XLibris® Archive 6 is an archive for text, images, pages and other types of documents. The archive is built on open standards.

It is highly flexible and can be expanded and adapted in a number of ways. It is also lighteningquick even when handling huge amounts of information.

A VERSATILE ARCHIVE

XLibris® Archive 6 can handle many different types of documents. Published articles, un-published articles, images, PDF files, different types of multi-media files and documents can be archived. XLibris® Archive 6 is so flexible that you can archive practically any type of file. To date, Infomaker provides modules that allow XLibris® Archive 6 to manage articles in XML-format, XLibris® HTML articles, PDF documents and images in many formats. Modules for other document types are created successively and according to your specific needs.

STATE OF THE ART DOCUMENT SEARCH ROUTINES USING A WEB BROWSER

XLibris® Archive 6 can be used with ordinary Macintosh, Windows or Linux web browsers. The system uses a full freetext search that can be combined with key information such as date or writer. OPEN, FAST AND POWERFUL XLibris® Archive 6 uses the Apache Lucene indexing and search engine. This technology is very powerful and has been thoroughly tested by a number of developers. This guarantees continued development and an open format that makes XLibris a safe choice now and in the future.

TEXT OR THUMBNAILS

It is easy for you to choose whether you want to view your search results as text or as thumbnails. If you choose text you will be provided with a straightforward list that can be sorted in different ways. You will see a highlighted excerpt from the article. If you choose thumbnails you can set the Images size and sort them in the same way as you sort the text list. You choose whether you want to search all types of documents at a time or only a selection, for instance only articles and images.

EXCEPTIONAL PERFORMANCE

XLibris® Archive 6 uses open, modern J2EE technology. The system performs exceptionally well, is highly flexible, expandable and scalable. An average archive search among one million articles or images will take less than half a second using a standard Macintosh or PC server.

ADVANCED SEARCH

XLibris® Archive 6 can be used to run a number of advanced searches. It supports truncation with the help of * and ?. Boolean searches containing AND, OR and NOT can also be performed and these searches may also be modified using parentheses. You may also search the archive using standard Google-style searches with plus or minus signs in front of the words. You may also search for phrases, group search words, make “fuzzy” searches and boost search words. XLibris® Archive 6 can also be expanded with a thesaurus, aliasing, proofing tools and other advanced functions. There are two standard interfaces in XLibris® Archive 6, one presenting the user with a simple search and the other with advanced search possibilities.

MANY DIFFERENT TYPES OF DOCUMENTS

Thanks to a very powerful import function XLibris® Archive 6 can archive text, images, PDF files and other formats. For each document type that is to be archived, the import function is adjusted to the given document format. XLibris® Archive 6 is one of the first systems to handle Adobe XMP, IPTC, EXIF as well as XML based meta-data. With the help of plug-in modules to XLibris® Archive 6 there are even more possibilities and options. The import function can be connected to Newspilot® or to XLibris® Robot. It is automatic and can monitor certain files. Through monitored folders containing, for example, XML files and articles, material from other editorial systems may be archived.

MINIMAL MAINTENANCE

The system is constructed so that maintenance can be kept at a minimum. All routines such as optimization and backup can be automated and scheduled.

CORRECTIONS, NOTES AND EDITING

XLibris® Archive 6 contains functions that allow the user to add notes and make corrections. You may also edit the archived material in the program that created the document, and you can see and edit the archived document’s or file’s meta information.

TECHNOLOGY AND SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

The free text engine in XLibris is Apache Lucene. MySQL is used to handle databases and the JBoss application server handles all logic and Internet services. All components are available for Mac OS X, Windows, Linux and Sun Solaris. CPU, RAM and hard drive space requirements vary with the amount of data that needs to be stored and the number of users. A fast computer with, for instance, 2x2 Ghz CPUs, equipped with at least 2GB of RAM, is recommended. The more RAM memory available to the application, the faster the searches will be, especially when the queries are complex and comprehensive.

SUITABLE FOR SMALL OR LARGE INSTALLATIONS

XLibris® Archive 6 is suitable for small as well as large installations and can handle everything from a few thousand to millions of items, or a few to a great number of users. A normal, in-house installation can be fitted onto a single server computer. A large installation is constructed with the help of a search cluster and an add-on module. Compatible with OS X, Windows, Linux and Sun. The many parts of the archival system can be installed on most operating systems such as Mac OS X, Windows, Linux and Sun Solaris. Some archiving modules may be limited to certain operating systems.

A SYSTEM THAT ALLOWS YOU TO GROW AND EXPAND

XLibris® Archive exists in many different versions, depending on what and how much you need to archive. There are modules for text/PDF, images and multimedia. The Text/PDF Module manages articles in a variety of formats as well as PDF files. The Image Module manages different types of image formats. The Multimedia Module manages a wide variety of video and sound formats. XLibris® Archive 6 comes in three levels depending on the number of items you wish to archive. XLibris® Archive 6 Basic handles 500 000 items or less. Pro handles 2 500 000 items or less. Enterprise handles up to 5 000 000 items. For greater volumes, please ask for an estimate.
